The Château de Lucens, a majestic 12th century edifice dominating the Broye Valley on the old main highway from Lausanne to Berne, is a private residence and not open to the public. We were extremely privileged that the owner, who in recent years has carefully restored and furnished the castle to its full former splendour, consented to its use for this event, in sympathy with the aims of our Foundation.
The dual artistic focus of the event centered on a recital by a brilliant young Swiss piano virtuoso Antoine Rebstein, and an exhibition of the latest works by the distinguished Swiss-based British artist, David Maude-Roxby Montalto, who was present for the occasion.
An alfresco buffet luncheon was prepared by Pierrick Suter of the Hôtel de la Gare, Lucens, a talented Swiss chef whose skills have won wide acclaim. The wine selection--important local vintages--was assisted by the Vaudois Wine Office.
