21 April 2005
This well-attended event was a memorable occasion. A champagne reception was followed by a private viewing of the forthcoming Old Masters' Picture Sale with a commentary by Dr Timothy Hunter, a director of Christie's and a member of the Foundation's Advisory Board.
A concert completed the soirée, including Marie-Stéphanie Janecek cello and Simon Zaoui piano in works by Debussy and Janácek. The Swiss pianist Antoine Rebstein interpreted Brahms' transcription for the left hand alone of Bach's Chaconne. Mark Milhofer tenor, accompanied by Paul Plummer piano performed arias by Tosti, Schubert, Donizetti, Donaudy and Escapa.
