The African Social Enterprise Fund (ASEF), a registered UK charity, is an initiative run in partnership with ArtsGlobal that supports outstanding African entrepreneurs also to become socially minded entrepreneurs. In particular it aims to create and pioneer positive social change through the Arts and creative industries.
Each year, Awards are given to empower and enable, African entrepreneurs to develop positive social impacts. Awardees receive benefits including a tailor- made Social Impact programme, world-class leadership training in the UK and Europe, mentoring, networking opportunities and internships driven by social and environmental concerns.
This year’s Awards were in fashion and music. IDYL, who's real name is Diongoli Daniel, received the Music Award at the launch of the ASEF on 3 December 2016 at Sotheby's.
IDYL, who comes from Bayelsa State in Southern Nigeria, was selected by the Roger Hammond Memorial Trust who will administer the award. It will enable him to develop artistically as well as to act as an agent for social change through the medium of music.
