Luigi La Marca, percussionist and composer, was born in Naples, Italy. In 1956, at age six, he moved with his family to Switzerland.
In 1971 he earned a diploma at the Bern Jazz Academy in percussion and piano, following which he undertook graduate studies at the Hollywood Musicians' Academy, Los Angeles. While in the USA he recorded twenty CDs and performed extensively on radio, television and on tour throughout the country.
In 1991, after returning to Switzerland, Luigi La Marca formed the eleven-piece Latin band Cana Dulce, and, more recently, his jazz ensemble Wings on Earth.
In addition to his busy performance schedule, Mr La Marca is a respected member of the music faculty at Aiglon College in Villars, where his musicianship, expertise and enthusiasm have been appreciated for ten years. In May 2006 he composed Ring around the Moon for the Aiglon Drum Trio.
