Arts Global is “a foundation empowering emerging artists and advancing social change.”
For some years the foundation’s first major project influencing social change has been growing behind the scenes. On 20 October, at London’s Savoy Hotel, Foundation Director Heather de Haes introduced the project to some 300 delegates at the Global African Investment Summit.
It was presented as an example of Triple Bottom Line investing (“People, Planet, Profit”), a relatively recent phenomenon embraced by investors for whom profit, although essential, is not the only motivation.
The view of Arts Global is that modern investment must be win-win-win: for the investors, for the people impacted by the investment, and for the environment in which the investment is located.
New York-based Arts Global roster artists performed at the annual benefit dinner for the American Australian Association on 5 November at Cipriani Wall Street in New York. In August 2014, vocal coach and Arts Global Jazz Consultant Kate Baker (pictured left) and Master Guitarist Vic Juris hosted a week-long Jazz Workshop and Retreat for young musicians in Woodstock, New York. Student singers and instrumentalists received rigorous daily instruction, which involved classes in ear training, harmony, improvisation, voice building and song writing. Highlights of the retreat included nightly concerts featuring students with rhythm section backup, as well as a final performance of music written and arranged by the workshop participants.

Arts Global recently participated in a private, invitation-only event at London’s oldest French restaurant, L’Escargot, an establishment enjoying a renaissance in its nearly century-old existence. The exclusive event was held in one of its newly redecorated private rooms, where the Foundation presented a jazz performance. The evening was hosted by the Inner Circle Club.
The Foundation recently hosted a private dinner at the Athenaeum Club, a veritable London establishment built in 1824 with the purpose of serving the needs of artistic and intellectual members of society. Among its many significant members include 52 Nobel Prize recipients. The private dinner was sponsored by Penfolds Wines — this Australian wine company will be sponsoring more Arts Global events in the future.
